Moordale High’s time may be numbered, but “Sex Education” will continue. It has so announced the two main actors, Ncuti Gatwa (Eric) and Kedar Williams (Jackson), at the big Netflix fan event “Tudum”. In the fourth season of the Netflix series will be some changes ahead. Not only is Moordale High closing down because it couldn’t land an investor*, but a lot has changed in Otis’ (Asa Butterfield) life….
When will Sex Education Season 4 start on Netflix?
One of the most important questions we can not answer at this point is that “Sex Education” season 4 has no official start date. The audience had to prepare for a time-out of one year, but due to the Corona crisis, there were several postponements, which is why the third season was released later.
Since the entertainment industry can now continue its work despite the Coronavirus, it can be assumed that the fourth season will start as early as late summer 2023 on Netflix. However, the start remains speculation until the streaming service reveals official information. As always, we will feed fans of the teen series with regular updates, so it’s worth returning to this article.
Sex Education Season 4: Plot known – here’s how it continues
Moordale Secondary School is no more, but for Otis and Eric, it still continues. They must complete the end of their schooling at Cavendish Sixth Form College, a teaching institution that, according to Netflix (via The Hollywood Reporter), is even more progressive than their old school. There are no losers here, and no one is bullied. Instead, the focus is on sustainability and yoga classes.
It’s an adjustment for more than just the two best friends, though; Adam (Connor Swindells) is fully questioning his academics, Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood) wants to be artistic, Jackson (Kedar WIlliams-Sitrling) still isn’t over Cal (Dua Saleh), and Viv (Chinenye Ezeudu) misses the competitive thinking of her old school.
While her friends try to adjust to their new school, Maeve (Emma Mackey) is also getting used to her new surroundings. Otis still pines for her. However, as she is surrounded by all the contemporary influences of Wallace University in the U.S., the intelligent woman is not plagued by homesickness. Her focus is entirely on her tutor, Thomas Molloy.
Sex Education Season 4: Is Maeve still in it?
Many fans wonder if smart audience favorite Maeve will still be around in season 4 of “Sex Education.” After all, season 3 ended with Maeve – with the active support of her friend Aimee – deciding to take her chance and participate in the study program in the U.S. after all. And that was just when Maeve and Otis had finally found each other after some confusion…
But for now, we can breathe a sigh of relief: Maeve will continue to appear in Season 4 of “Sex Education,” albeit in a somewhat smaller role. However, there is also a downer for all Maeve fans: actress Mackey announced in mid-February 2023 that she would leave the series after season 4 (via Screenrant).
If you can’t get enough of the French-British actress, you can look forward to the summer: Mackey will take on a role in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” film adaptation alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The trailer gives you a foretaste of what’s to come:
Eric actor Ncuti Gatwa will sadly turn his back on the series after Season 4, but he also has good reason to do so. In the BBC hit “Doctor Who,” he will be given the honor of embodying the fifteenth “Doctor” (via Collider).
